Most of you probably have noticed this by now but I really haven't managed to make studies or practice lately. This makes me a bit sad, but my time and energy are running out even without any extra activities! I will try to start updating regularly once my life settles down a bit. See you in a bit!

I seriously have no idea what I was thinking :'D I still think it's kind of fun to look at anyway

this and that again

Oh my gosh I haven't done any proper sketching in a long time! Whenever I have some bigger art project going on I start to procrastinate and nothing happens. Here are some doodles and schoolworks I've done recently.

This is a part of illustrations aimed for children I'm doing for my photoshop class. I have no idea why but this style is really hard for me? I'm stuck with the next 2, nothing seems to work eaugh

this one was for a competition. I liked it back at the time, but I do see it's faults now. It also seems like it was too ambiguous for most people but I won't bother explaining it here :P

oh yeah, my illustration was in the cover of newest Spera!

this and that

These are pretty much reposts from my LJ-account. Sorry about that! I need to get back into the habit of sketching.

Radio säteily stuff I did with Anni.

brb crying forever

I swear this polymer gravure class is going to make me go crazy. If you're wondering what's up with these, somehow the blackest areas have turned to white. LET'S NOT TALK ABOUT IT.

black & white

I was doodling some girl who started to look vaguely familiar; then I looked into a mirror.
trying to make the same face haha

Oh and hey, if things go well I'm gonna upload a little comic on Monday.

some sketches

I haven't actually been able to sketch as much as I wanted :T The first sketches were 30 sec drawings.

I actually based that b&w drawing on the vector doodle below. Maybe I will learn how to use illustrator properly one day.

Monograms and stuff

Okay so, typography isn't one of my stronger points. We had a monogram (a sign that has both of your initial letters) workshop over a few days at our Uni and I was actually looking forward to it. Unfortunately our teacher wasn't really able to TEACH us since she couldn't speak either Finnish or English very well. I wanted to do my monogram with some kind of traditional calligraphy, but the teacher rejected them because "they weren't me". Okay, how the heck would she know that? Anyway, she only approved the designs I thought were pretty boring while some of the other students did some fantasy dragons or something. Okay maybe I'm just bitter haha.

Anyway, here's two of the things I ended up finishing. I'm still no good at doing vectors on Illustrator either.

Lately I've been doodling more on Photoshop, I think I'm slowly getting more comfortable about using the program eventhough I still have no patience to do anything very detailed.

Hari the flowerboy is my character.

Traditional printing is pretty tiring (physically)

We started our lithography course, it's pretty exciting! I've seen many works that have blown my mind made with lithography printing so I can't wait to see what I can do with it. If you don't know how it works, the video below explains it pretty well.

Here are the doodles I made for the first print, notice how they're mirrored in the final print. (click for bigger view)

I painted on the limestone with ink-like stuff called tusche and added some crayon.

I think it looks darn sweet myself, especially for the 1st try with the medium. I will try to make one more design during this class! I'm sort of bummed that I will most likely not get many chances to wotk with lithography after this semester though. The equipment is always there at the uni, but the printing paper and colors are expensive. And I actually have no experience on preparing the color and I would probably just DESTROY EVERYTHING I TOUCH and all that.

some speedpaints

I haven't really had any time to do sketch studies lately, so here're some speedpaints I've done recently.

animal sketches

Not very impressive post this time – I've been kept busy by private commissions and other personal projects.

I did these and some other sketches at the Natural history museum in Helsinki, it was really crowded and I didn't have an eraser with me so I didn't get to draw as well as I wanted.
